TRAINING, DEVELOPMENT

& Operational Excellence

Training & Staff Development
  • All security personnel must demonstrate proficiency in English, basic arithmetic, and the ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Selection includes a formal interview with operations management to assess suitability.
    Successful recruits undergo an induction training program, and are appointed at Grade D.
  • After a 3-month probation, eligible employees may be promoted sequentially through PSIRA grades, based on performance and competency.
  • Staff are encouraged to upskill, with opportunities for promotion and
    specialized training (e.g. firearms handling, first aid, fire fighting, etc.) based on client requirements.
  • All security officers must attend an internal annual refresher course, especially after returning from leave.
Operations Management
  • Our strength lies in robust on-site support infrastructure and an experienced supervision and management team—key to maintaining high service standards.
  • We enforce strict discipline through a clear disciplinary code with grievance and appeal procedures.
  • Our 24/7 control room at head office is linked to all sites via two-way radio and Sefeko Guard Monitoring System.
  • Sites must report status updates every 30 minutes after-hours; if missed, a supervisor is dispatched immediately.
  • Electronic patrol systems are used for real-time monitoring, with data reviewed daily and emailed to clients each weekday morning.
  • Supervisors conduct regular site visits to evaluate performance, enforce discipline, and respond to emergency incidents.
  • Operations management personnel oversee day-to-day service delivery, with special attention to labour relations and client communication (email, phone, and scheduled meetings).
  • Weekly or monthly meetings are conducted with clients to maintain transparency and service alignment.
  • We operate a “self-posting” model, where guards report directly to sites using PPT smart two-way radios, with emergency transport provided when replacements are required.
Site Procedures & Risk Management
  • A site-specific security procedure is developed in consultation with each client to ensure role clarity and accountability.
  • Regular risk assessments are conducted, with comprehensive reports shared with clients to maintain proactive safety management.
Insurance Coverage

MSS Tactical Team holds liability insurance for up to R5,000,000, covering gross negligence or omission within the scope of duties, subject to contractual terms.
